Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 15, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using OddJob ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These terms are presented during account registration and again when registering as an Independent Worker or Business provider.

2. Marketplace Role

OddJob is a marketplace, communication, and service-discovery platform that connects customers with local service providers. OddJob does NOT directly provide the services listed by providers. OddJob is not an employer, contractor, or agent of any service provider or customer. OddJob does not perform, supervise, or guarantee any services listed on the platform.

3. Provider Responsibility

Providers are responsible for their services, qualifications, licenses, insurance, pricing, work, availability, communications, and agreements with customers. All providers are subject to review and approval before becoming publicly visible. Providers must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

4. Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for choosing providers, evaluating offers, agreeing to final details, arranging payment, and making their own decisions regarding providers. OddJob does not guarantee any provider's price, work, availability, qualifications, or performance.

5. Offers & Estimates

Providers may submit offers (bids) on public service requests. Offers are estimates and may be negotiated or changed. An offer does not automatically create a guaranteed contract or payment obligation through OddJob. The customer is not required to accept the lowest offer — the customer chooses a provider based on whatever factors they prefer. Offers are private: a provider cannot see competing providers' offers, prices, messages, or who else submitted offers.

Providers may edit or withdraw an offer at any time before the customer chooses a provider. Customers may mark an offer as "Not Interested" and may continue messaging other providers.

6. Choosing a Provider

When a customer chooses a provider, the request is removed from the public marketplace, the request status changes to Pending, and the request is no longer publicly visible. The customer and selected provider may continue private communication through the platform. The customer must pay the full agreed job amount through Odd Job This before the provider begins the job. Payment is held safely and released to the provider only after the job is completed and the customer approves (or the review period ends).

7. Payments

Customers pay for accepted jobs through Odd Job This using Stripe. The full agreed job amount must be paid before the provider begins work. Odd Job This holds the payment and releases it to the provider after the job is completed and the customer approves, or after a 48-hour review period passes. Odd Job This earns a marketplace fee from the transaction, based on the final job amount: 5% for jobs up to $999.99, 3.5% for jobs $1,000–$4,999.99, and 2.5% for jobs $5,000 and up. The marketplace fee is deducted from the provider’s payout. Customers can optionally tip providers; Odd Job This takes 0% of tips. If a change order is approved, the customer pays the additional amount through the platform before the additional work begins, and the marketplace fee is recalculated from the updated final amount.

8. Licensing & Insurance Claims

Providers may voluntarily claim "Licensed", "Insured", or "Licensed & Insured" badges. These badges are optional. OddJob does NOT automatically verify every licensing or insurance claim. The provider is responsible for ensuring that any claim they make is truthful and accurate.

False or misleading claims may result in removal of the badge, content removal, temporary suspension, permanent account removal, or other administrative action. Reports and suspicious claims are flagged for administrative review. The OddJob administrator retains final authority to determine whether a provider may keep a badge, have it removed, be temporarily suspended, or be permanently removed. A provider will not be permanently banned solely because an unverified report is made.

9. Accounts & Identity

Users must provide accurate information during registration. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. A single Person account may manage multiple provider identities (for example, both a Business and an Independent Worker profile). Users log in once with their Person account and may access any connected provider dashboards.

Identity separation: A person must never be able to send a message pretending to be another person. When communicating as a provider, messages are sent under the correct provider identity. Provider conversations are identity-locked to the provider profile that started or owns that conversation and cannot be switched to another person or unrelated provider.

10. Messaging

Providers (Businesses and Independent Workers) may not randomly cold-message users. A provider may begin communicating with a Person only when (a) the Person messages the provider first, or (b) the Person creates a public job request and the provider responds to that request. Once a legitimate conversation is established, unlimited back-and-forth messaging, photos, videos, quotes, and offers may be exchanged. Providers must not search for random users and initiate unsolicited conversations.

11. Prohibited Content & Activities

Users may not post or engage in:

 • Illegal activities or services
 • Drug-related content or services
 • Weapons-related content
 • Adult or NSFW content
 • Harassment, hate speech, or threats
 • Spam, scams, or fraudulent activity
 • Unsafe labor practices
 • Counterfeit or deceptive services
 • Prohibited services

Users agree not to use messaging for scams, fraud, harassment, threats, illegal activity, prohibited services, spam, or abusive behavior.

12. Content Moderation

Content and activity may be analyzed by automated safety and moderation systems. Content may also be reviewed by administrators when necessary for safety, moderation, reports, or platform operation. Content that violates these terms may be immediately removed or hidden. Users whose content is flagged will be notified and may appeal. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or permanent ban.

13. Reviews & Ratings

Reviews must be honest, relevant, and based on genuine experiences. False, defamatory, or retaliatory reviews are prohibited. OddJob reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these terms.

14. Provider Billing

Providers do not pay a monthly subscription, signup fee, or trial fee to use Odd Job This. Creating and maintaining a provider profile is free. Odd Job This earns through the marketplace fee described in Section 7, which is deducted from the provider’s payout when a job is completed. Providers receive their payout after the job is completed and the customer approves (or the 48-hour review period ends). Tips are paid to the provider in full — Odd Job This takes 0% of tips. Stripe processing fees may apply according to Stripe’s pricing.

15. Limitation of Liability

OddJob is not responsible for:

 • The quality, safety, or legality of services performed
 • Disputes between customers and providers
 • Damages, injuries, or losses resulting from services
 • Payment disputes between users
 • The conduct, statements, or actions of any user
 • Accuracy of provider profiles, reviews, ratings, or offers
 • Guaranteeing any provider's price, work, availability, qualifications, or performance

16. Dispute Resolution

Users are encouraged to resolve disputes directly. OddJob provides a reporting system for issues but does not arbitrate disputes. Users may report violations through the platform's reporting tools.

17. Account Termination

OddJob reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in prohibited activities, or pose a risk to the community. Users may delete their own accounts at any time through account settings.

18. Indemnification

Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless OddJob, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from their use of the platform or violation of these terms.

19. Changes to Terms

OddJob may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Users will be notified of material changes.
